Wiggins To Visit Florida State First; UNC, Kentucky, Kansas To Follow When Schedule Allows

Nov 26, 2012 12:58 PM

Andrew Wiggins' decision to reclassify from 2014 to 2013 will mean he has less time to make his college choice.

“From any indication Andrew has given us, he’s going to take one (official visit) to Florida State, North Carolina, Kentucky and Kansas,” Huntington head coach Rob Fulford said. “Those are the four right now that he’s kind of made a point to say that’s where he wants to visit. Whether that happens or not, and when, who knows?”

Huntington frequently plays out of state in their schedule.

“He wants to start trying to get visits plugged in when he can, but our schedule is brutal,” Fulford says. “We just don’t have many weekends open. I think he’s going to try and do one to Florida State in early December and he’s going to plug in others.”

North Carolina's Ability To Develop Talent Under Question

Nov 21, 2012 2:21 PM

NBA general managers are dubious about the amount of development players at North Carolina receive under the tutelage of Roy Williams.

"Obviously UNC gets a lot of blue chip talent which means they're going to be good no matter what," wrote Chad Ford. "But how many of those players actually develop or get better while they are at UNC? I can name a bunch of players at Kentucky who improve their games with Cal. Much harder to come up with examples among the elite UNC recruits. Not sure how much development they get there."

Karl Towns Jr. To Announce College Decision Dec. 4

Nov 15, 2012 11:03 AM

Karl Towns Jr., the nation's top-ranked player for the recruiting class of 2015, will announce his college choice on Dec. 4.

“I know my family was feeling a lot of pressure, and I want to be able to have fun playing basketball in high school (this season) and not have to worry about anything off the basketball court,” Towns said. “I never like leading people on. I just want to get it over with.”

Towns is expected to choose between Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina and Florida.

“It’s a very strenuous process—it’s relentless,” Towns said. “It’s also fun, but it doesn’t leave your mind. It hits you every day over the head.”

Zeller, Noel, Muhammad, Len, McAdoo In Ford's Top-5 For 2013 Draft

Nov 14, 2012 1:59 PM

The 2012-13 college basketball season is underway, which means attention to the 2013 NBA Draft is already being paid.

ESPN's Chad Ford has Cody Zeller, Nerlens Noel, Shabazz Muhammad, Alex Len and James Michael McAdoo in his top-5 in no particular order.

Jonathan Givony of Draft Express has Muhammad, Noel, Zeller, Rudy Gobert of Cholet and McAdoo in his current mock draft. Len is currently slotted 14th.

"Only player that I've made some major revisions on is Alex Len of Maryland," said Ford. "Just think he took a major leap over the summer and at 7-1 with his skill set, he's going to be a Top 5 pick. Reminds me a little bit of a young Ilgauskas."
